Minutes of Board of Commissioners to Superintend the Completion of the State House, 1847-1853.

Minutes record actions taken by Governor, Auditor of Public Accounts, and State Treasurer acting as commissioners to superintend completion of the first Springfield State House (under an Act of February 16, 1847). Activities concern work superintendent selection; construction examination; development of plans and specifications for work (i.e., capitals; architraves; chimmey tops; frieze course); letting of contracts and settlements of accounts with contractors; construction of porticoes, fences, roof, and cupola; and grounds landscaping.
